gay church

Just wondering, if there was a full owned and operated gay church in your area, would you be a member of it?

For me, I'm lucky enough that there is more than one church in the area which totally includes gay members, to the point that it's just a non-issue. No one even thinks about "being inclusive" because the glbt members are the same as everyone else.

I'm aware this is an exception, sadly. But in my case, the GLBT community has many, many options and doesn't need a special "gay church" to be included.

Were my situation different (i.e. no local church accepts gays), I'd have to think about it. I hate the idea of cloistering ourselves away in "our own church," because that's what half the bigots would WANT us to do: stay away.

I would have to check it out first before I would join it.

A "gay" church can be just as ignorant and bigotted as any "straight" one.

Gay or straight, a church is first GOD'S CHURCH...if I don't think or feel that He is in there, then I won't return to it.

I think your right Jeffrey.  I don't think I would join one myself.  I've never been to one, so I don't know for sure, but I don't think I would join one.

I have a gay church a couple blocks away from me--and it turned out to be a hook up place for the younger crowd.
And, God bless the pastor...but, I didn't feel anything from his sermon. I just stared at him...he sounded like the micro machine man. It was horrible.
I know not all churches are like that...but, if I'm returning to church--
It's going to be a conservative gay-bashing one. It's weird. But, I could put up with that quite easily. Because those people preach the Bible. (In my opinion.) They make me fear God--and that is what I need more of in my life.

*hugs*

I am a member/leader of an MCC church... and love it.  I'm preparing for MCC ministry.

If I hadn't found a home here, I would have most likely fit in with UCC, UMC(mabye) or Unity.
