I was asked a question the other day that I didn't know the answer to. But I knew you guys would know!
A non-Christian friend watched the 10 Commandments last week and said at the beginning of the movie, it said the Moses was revered by Christians, Jews, and Muslims. He could understand Moses being important to Christians & Jews, but didn't understand how Moses impacted the Muslims. I don't have a clue.

I didn't watch the first hour, only the last. I didn't like it that much and Moses certainly wasn't that age when he led God's people out of bondage! He was 80 years old, not a ruggedly handsome man in his 40's! I hate when they don't get details correct!

This is only a partial answer; however, the Islamic holy book, the Qu'ran is compromised of bits and pieces of the Old Testament. They (Muslims) believe that Moses, along with Jesus (and a few others, too!) were direct prophets from God. However, one of the distinct differentiations is that Muslims believe Mohammed was the FINAL prophet of God.
Hope this kind of sheds some light on it. :) Here are a few random facts about Islam I just came across:
# Scripture. There are four inspired books, the Torah of Moses, the Psalms (Zabin) of David, the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Injil) and the Qur'an. All but the Qur'an have been corrupted by Jews and Christians. # Prophets. God has spoken through numerous prophets throughout time. The six greatest are: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. Muhammad is the last and greatest of Allah's messengers.

Steve, my friend wanted to know why Moses didn't get to go into the Promised Land, and when I explained that he disobeyed God (right?) and that God then told him he would never cross into the Land, my friend thought God was mean. That's a hard one to explain.
Darrel, thanks for the info. I'm going to send that whole thing to my friend and that should answer his questions. Except the part about God being mean!

In the Book of Numbers, Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to it, as God had commanded him. So Moses took the staff from the Lord's presence, just as he commanded him. He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, "Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?" Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. (Numbers 20:9-11).
"But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 'Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them'"(Numbers 20:12).
God said that Moses' anger came from a lack of trust and that's why he wasn't allowed into the promised land.

Also, notice what Moses said to the people: "...must WE bring you water out of this rock?"
He used to tell the people that it was GOD that was the one that had delivered and was caring for them...that it was the LORD that had been the source of their food and water. But he was now saying that it was HIM that was supplying them with the water. He was going on an "ego-trip". And the COST of this trip was the ability to enter the Promised Land...
But the truth is that God ALREADY knew that Moses was going to do this. God knew that Moses was going to sin and keep himself from inheriting a portion of Canaan. But God had an EVEN BETTER "land" for him: HEAVEN!
"All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised. For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us." - Hebrews 11:39-40
God just gave Moses that punishment NOT to be "mean" (God had every right to strike him dead on the spot for his hateful outburst), but to show the people of Israel (as well as all those people of faith in God) that there is NO ONE THAT IS RIGHTEOUS ENOUGH to inherit Heaven and have an eternity with the Lord.
That is why that the ONLY "Moses" that ANYONE can use to get to God is Jesus...the PERFECT Lamb of God that took away the sins of the world!
