In general, Dad is doing do "Fair", he gets his 2nd Procrit injection this Friday and then starts cycle# 2 of Chemo on Monday May 22nd thru Wednesday May 24th. From there......we will see what his Dr says his NEXT.
Dad was hospitalized very early Sunday morning {time approx. @ Emergency Room 2:30 AM} I drove him there, and Mom went too, of course. After a very brief wait after tests were run, etc.....the ER Dr did point out that his heart rate was extremely accelerated 120-140 per/min and very erratic. (the term used was atrial fibrulation spelling?)
They are watching him very closely and his heart rate is somewhat stabile now. This may affect the 1st day of his 2nd cycle of chemo.....which alarms him too, it's also possible they may do chemo in hospital so he can be monitored.
I am so sorry to hear of your father's set back. I pray that the Dr's and nurses are dilegent in their care of your father. Hang in there bud. God is in control. I hope that this set back does not postpone his further chemo treatments.
I will continue to keep him and your family in my prayers.

This happened with my Dad a lot. The hospital always kept him a couple of days for observation purposes. So they probably will keep him for a while, just to monitor his heart during this time. If something should go wrong, they will need to be there to do whatever is needed to make sure the problem is fixed. Take care and don't give up...God loves you and your family, and won't let ANY of you go!
UPDATE Dad was released from hospital early last evening, and is starting his 2nd cycle of CHEMO over the next 3 days. He is being very closely monitored by the nurses and his oncologist.
He is very tired out and fatigues exceptionally easily. This was so NOT what we needed to happen at this time{a possible setback}
For the past 10 days or so, my Dad has received daily injections to help build-uporincrease either the red or white blood cells -THEY get "attacked"/ "killed off" just as the cancer cells should be also.
Dad is extremely tired at times, has NOT been sick from chemo, and really hasn't lost his appetite either. {that's a PRAISE} His next cycle of chemo is the 12th - 14th of June, then a new CT scan will be done to determine just how much the TUMOR has shrunk. Further treatment will be decided after review of the scan-
I am glad to hear that your dad is not having any adverse effects to the chemo treatments. I will continue to pray for his health. Keep us informed as to his progress my friend.

Dad has to have his FIRST blood transfusion " 2 units" tomorrow ASAP., and they are monitoring him to see whether or not He requires Oxygen to assist him in breathing. He can not even walk comfortably about the house without starting to get very short of breath & experience chest pain - discomfort.
Please pray that these issues will be resolved so He is more comfortable in the days ahead, he had a very hard, somewhat painful weekend.
He's in my prayers, Jay. Thanks so much for letting us know what's going on. I appreciate it.
*hugs to you* Darrel

Thank You for bringing my pal's dad this far. Please continue to bring him the rest of the way to good health. He is having a hard trip about this, but we know that with You, Lord, all things are possible and that a medical miracle is not too hard for You. All things happen in YOUR time and by YOUR sovereign will. There is a need here that only You can meet. Give Jay's dad, as well as the rest of his family, the peace and strength to get through each trying day...one day at a time. Remind them that You are always there for them, blessing them each step of the way. For in Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
I just started reading this whole post from beginning to end. I am definately praying for you and your whole family...especially your father. It is times like this that it may be difficult to see God, but know he is there guiding your path. Will be praying for His will to be done!
I am continuing to pray for your dad Jay, may his strength be built up with the blood transfusions.

Dad goes this morning at 10:00 AM for his firstCT SCAN since diagnosis and upon completing 3 cycles of chemo (9 individual treatments), this will be what they call the "tumor marker"(how much the tumor has shrunk- Hopefully ? ) We will all go together and get the results at an appointment on Weds. June 21st, and find out what is the next part of treatment.
With all of my strength, I pray that You will deliver Jay's dad from the scourge of cancer. I hope that today's test will come out okay. Let it be so. This good man has had so many trials happen to him. Bless him and his family with this miracle. Lift them up and never let this dreadful thing hurt them anymore. For in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
a Good newsBad news results appointment today: " the slightly over 8 centimeter/ almost 4 inches in size mass/ tumor on my Dad's right lung" has definitely shrunk in size.
Not sure exactly how much, because of the "Bad part of the results
there now is a growth/mass which is partially blocking the airway near the center or middle lobe of that lung, it is not the same form of cancer though-this is non small cell lung cancer .
Dad is to begin a weekly chemo & radiation treatment plan next Wednesday.
Please continue to help Jay's dad to get better from his cancer. Even though we are concerned about this new growth, we thank You for the healing of the old one. Keep up the good work and let Jay's daddy have a full recovery from these tumors. Bless him and his family as they undergo more chemo treatments, and keep their spirits high. Never let them forget about Your endless love for them. You will always take good care of them. For in Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
I am continuing to pray for your dad. May the tumors reduce in size and your dad's energy level remain high.
