When this story came on TV, I was completely shocked that with all of the problems we Kentuckians have been having with the Phelps' church, that THIS would be going on here!


Please pray for this student, as well as the other kids at this school who are embarassed by this.

One day when gay marriage is legal and homophobia is no longer condoned by any church, statements and actions like the ones that college made are going to be seen very negatively. People like that only say such things because they truly believe this is a "phase" through which our country is going.

But once gay rights travel the road of civil rights in the 60s, and homophobia is as shunned as racism, these people are going to be extremely embarrassed for having said this kind of thing.

What most people do not seem to realize from both sides of the fence is that the banning of gay marriages only enforces the need more for civil unions.. and since civil unions have never been defined clearly as a same-sex union, that would mean anyone can have a civil union..


So why get married? Think about it. :(

This is just so sad.  But you know, I just realized that I wouldn't really care about this story if my son hadn't come out & completely turned my life upside-down.  After he came out, God did a huge number on my heart (& Teddy's) and changed the way we believe.  Until more people are faced with this in their life, I'm not sure much will change.  The more gay people come out and show the world that they are just people, the more being gay will (hopefully) become a non-issue.  At least, that is my prayer!

I'm really glad it's students within the school as well, that are getting upset about it. It makes me happy that a conservative university has students who aren't too closed minded to speak up about this sort of thing.

Ugh... it seems like every other gay-related news item is good, then really bad, then good, then horrible, then kind of ok, etc.

One student says that there are MANY gay students at Cumberland, and that LOTS of other students ALREADY KNEW that he's gay, but didn't "flaunt it".


Which makes me ask the burning question: What is the PROBLEM when so many others don't have a problem with him being gay?!
