I am reading "The Savior's Touch" by Charles Stanley. It is a beautiful collection of devotions and photographs that Stanley took himself of Ansel Adams-like scenery. VERY GOOD!
Right now I'm reading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, but I just finished A Prayer for Owen Meany, The House of Mirth, and Rape: A Love Story last week and the week before that I managed to get through All Families Are Psychotic. I love reading, if you couldn't tell.

The Divine comedy is really good! But it's super hard to understand unless you have a good annotated version. I really highly recommend the "Penguin Classics" version, translated and annotated by Mark Musa. He has a really clear, no-nonsense approach that tells you the facts you need to know to understand what's going on.
If you want to read the whole thing, you should be forewarned- Purgatory is boooooring until about halfway through, but the description of the Earthly Paradise at the end of Purg. is one of the most beautiful things I've ever read. Good luck!!!

I confess - I can't read that deep, non-fiction stuff you guys read. I read for pure enjoyment. Unless it's Max Lucado. And actually, that's pure enjoyment too!
Now I'm reading Christopher Moore's Lamb; The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal. It is hilarious, but just a little bit offensive!

Be yourself!!! Don't try to fit into someone else's mold, you won't fit!!! And that just leads to utter misery!!! Live life to it's fullest in Christ's love every day!!!
Sometimes while Jen is drawing I'll read to her and last night I started reading a book called "Tender at the Bone" by Ruth Reichl. It's a memoir. The author uses food and cooking as a common connection between important people in her life. It even includes recipes. After getting to the section where they were talking about apple dumplings I wanted one SO BAD!!

Aside from reading my bible daily, I'm going to read The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee after I finish reading Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal....which to some might come across as offensive, but you be the judge of that. And then I plan on reading some other Christian theology books.

I just finished reading a book called "P.S. Your Cat is Dead" by James Kirkwood. It was highly entertaining with an erotic homosexual undercurrent but nothing pornographic that you could quote. If that makes sense.
Last night I started "Angels and Demons" by that guy that wrote The Da Vinci code but it seems very similar to the DV Code so I'm having a hard time REALLY getting into it.

I just finished Mariel Hemingway's biography. It was pretty interesting as far as what has happened in her life but I didn't like the style in which the book was written so I don't recommend it. If you want the highlights of her life just ask me and I'll give you the Cliff's Notes version.
I am now reading a book called "The Guardian" by Nicholas Sparks. It's a romancey mystery novel in the style of Mary Higgins Clark. It's keeping my interest but the writing style is very simple and I find myself getting mildly irritated with it at times.

I like Nicholas Sparks, but his books are not exactly deep. At First Sight is a good book, but VERY sad at parts.
I just started reading Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris. I read her whole series about a woman who can read minds and is in love with a vampire. Vampires are part of society now since Japan developed an artificial blood. I loved those books! They are very well written. This new book of hers is about a woman who can find dead bodies. She gets "readings" from dead people and can even tell how they died. So far, it's very good.

And I disagree about the Da Vinci Code - although the book itself is an easy read, entertaining but easy - it does make you think.
And V.C. Andrews books are definately a great guilty pleasure read. I read them all. Well, until she died and her family started having the books written for her. Then they weren't as good any more.

Yeah, what's with the family trying to keep her books going? I mean, it's been done before, but it's a bit odd doing it with her name still as the author after she's dead.
Oh and by the way, why are VC Andrews novels sometimes classified under "occult?" It makes me feel guilty for reading them- and I can't figure out what's "occult" about them.
