RE: Video Games!

Yeah. I will wait at least 2 years to purchase one. The price should come down--unless there is a huge supply/demand issue going on. And, the games aren't necessarily getting better...ya know?

I'm tired of all the sports games, and the car racing games. *snores* I want something that makes me think! :)

for real, I feel like every 50 games or so that comes out, there'll be only one that I am actually interested in.

BTW darrell, I gave up on my secret of mana game I started. I screwed things up in the forest with the four seasons and now it's impossible to make the game progress any further

The makers of these video games say that they need more expensive technology so that the new games can be more "realistic". I don't want my games to be "realistic", I want them to be FUN! And you don't need a giant GB hard drive in a $500 machine to do that. Look at Tetris. It isn't anything but just SQUARES and it is the most addictive game ever made!

If I wanted "realism", I would just turn the game off, go outside and EXPERIENCE "realism" myself...for free!

I think I agree with you, Jeffrey. I don't want things to get any more "real." I really like the way things look now- I just can't figure out how they could look better, without actually using real actors, you know? Already with PS2 the characters look just as good as any computer-generated people you see in movies. I guess monsters in movies look more "real" but until they figure out how to make computer-generated people look like anything but corpses I wont be impressed.

Oh... my... GOODNESS

Xenosaga has got to be the COOLEST game I've played in YEARS. I played the first 10 minutes or so last Christmas and thought it was just kinda ok. But now that I've actually begun a game seriously and gotten further into it-- ****, this game gives me GOOSEBUMPS it's so cool.

I'm used to playing Final Fantasy, where there's no blood, and there are no such things as "expendable" characters- if a character dies it's a HUGE deal. This game is much more "real" in that respect. Not that blood and guts make a game cool... but somehow I'm more emotionally invested in Xenosaga. It's easier to stay detatched in FF games, since you know no matter what happens nobody's really going to get torn apart, just "KO'ed" to be revived later.

Anyway the effects are awesome, the storyline is cool, and the "movies" are really amazing. Darrell, I know you mentioned this game was cool in the past, but I had no idea.

HEHEHEHEHE!! I love that game!

Except when I acquired the canoe/boat/whatever, I didn't go to where I was supposed to go--because the game never gave me adequate directions. So, I ended up in this castle somewhere, and was completely, and utterly annhilated!! I was soooooo ANGRY!! Grrrrrrrr...

Oh well. :)

I'm playing Fatal Frame 2, now. It's not as scary as the 3rd one--but, it's still freaking me out!

One of my favorite Nintendo games is Super Mario 3. I could play that FOREVER...that, and BLASTER MASTER.

Yeah, I loved all the S.Mario games- I have all of them on my computer-- well, up through the super nintendo ones. I've not been interested in the new ones.

Blaster master... I never played it myself but I remember watching some friends play it and thinking it looked cool.

Hehe...sorry about your canoe/castle situation in Final Fantasy. There are some times in that game, when you get totally annihilated even if you go where you're SUPPOSED to go!

Has anyone played the Ultima series? They were really popular PC games in the 1980s, that were later transferred to Nintendo, Sega, Amiga, updated versions for the PC. I think there were like 10 of them.

I'm not really familiar with them. I played Ultima 3 on the NES and it was awful! But Ultima 4 is really fun! Just wondering.
