If you wonder why I have been acting like such an idiot all day, it's because I have learned that my uncle Glen, the man who nicknamed me J.D. , and one of my best uncles...is dying.
He was diagnosed with diabetes years ago and we have TRIED to get him to change his diet of sweets and candies, but he just wouldn't change. Now, he is in the hospital and the doctors said that he is not going to make it. They ran a cat-scan on his brain and they said that he is pretty much brain dead. The night that they admitted him, his heart stopped and they had to shock him EIGHT TIMES to get his heart beating again. It is a VERY trying time for me. I lost my grandmother a few years ago and now I am losing yet ANOTHER uncle. I have been losing one almost every two or three years for the last FIFTEEN. And this past Saturday would have been my late dad's birthday. So to have this happen so close to that...it's just about too much for me to bear. That is why I "went off" on Nate in another forum. Please forgive me and pray for all of us.
My heart goes out to you man. I am so sorry to hear about your uncle. My prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time. I pray that the Lord will lift you up and hold you in His Wondrous Arms my brother. Hang in there big guy. We're here for you.
Tim

I am sorry to hear about your uncle, my brother. Maybe this forum's support - and being in prayer - is what you need most right now. I hope that you will be gentle with yourself, choose your battles carefully, and experience God's love as fully as you can.
I just got back from the hospital with more bad news about my uncle.
The doctors say that they will give him a week. After that, they are going to unhook him from the machines and let him "go on home". He looks better, but they ran more tests on his brain and said that it was too far damaged from the lack of oxygen when he had the heart attack and nearly died right there in the hospital. It is going to be a very trying time for his sister and only remaining brother. We are trying to contact him now. Please continue to pray for us.
Continuing to pray, Jeffrey. I have to ask though - why are they waiting a week? If his brain is too far gone then why keep him alive on machines? Are they waiting until the family can gather?

Yes,but he didn't make a living will before this happened. The one that took care of him the most was my aunt. She's not ready to let him go. She is holding out for a miracle. She says that she'll sign the final papers, but after that...she's going to leave the hospital. She said that she doesn't want to be there when he finally goes. She is pretty distraught over this. They were very close.
We are waiting to hear from my only remaining uncle. From what my sister could tell from his daughter, he isn't in the best of health, either. This is a "double-whammy" for us. We can only wait and see what happens next. It's very, very stressful...but I am holding up okay. I have been through this before.
The doctor's moved up the schedule to today to pull all his tubes, except for his oxygen...and he is getting BETTER! His condition is actually improving! In fact, one of the nurses said that the tests might indicate that he isn't brain-dead, but that it is just operating slowly.
The doctors and nurses don't know what to think...and neither do we! Praise God!
Keep on praying for a miracle! One might actually happen here!
I will continue to pray for your uncle. He may pull through yet. Keep us informed brother!!!

My uncle has took a turn for the worse. They have hooked him up to all of the machines, but his oxygen level has gone down and he's having a hard time getting his breath. The doctors and nurses are acting like they WANT him to die! My sister has had to restrain herself from STRANGLING them! You know how hospitals are, PapaBear and MamaLisa...
My uncle is doing so well, that the doctor is going to move him out of the CCU and into a regular private room! He is coming along WONDERFULLY and his blood oxygen level is almost perfect!
Wow, what an emotional roller coaster for your family! That is wonderful news!! We'll be praying for continued recovery for him, and peace for your family.

My uncle is in his room. On last check, he is coming along okay, but it is still going to be quite a while for things to get back to "normal" (whatever the heck that is anymore).
Thank you for your prayers! They have done more than the hospital has...TRUST ME!
Jeffrey, I'm continuing to pray for the quick recovery for your uncle. :) May God give him strength.
