There's a song I've been learning on the guitar called, "In the Secret."
In the secret, in the quiet place In the stillness you are there In the secret, In the quiet hour I wait Only for You 'Cause I want to know you more
The psalmist, King David, wrote a lot about the "secret place"... about finding that safe, quiet place where God can begin to bring healing & restoration... where we can be quiet enough to hear God speak to us.
Have you experienced that kind of time with God?
One of my favorite ways to have that time is to be out in the wilderness on a camping trip or sitting by a lake at midnight. I forget everything I'm usually busy thinking & worrying about and I just sit there and listen. Sometimes there's a lot of wildlife making noise and it's a little harder to really listen... to listen deeper... to listen for the heartbeat of the Creator.
Even though being out in the wilderness is one of my favorite ways to encounter God, I know that God is everywhere. On the bus to school or work. In the office or the classroom. In the grocery store. In the laundry room.
The desire of my heart is to be listening for God everywhere I go... and it's definitely much easier to hear God when I practice listening by taking time each day for a short prayer time or mediation time.
My invitation to each of you is for you to join me during this season of Lent, to consciously take time each day to spend with God... and then to practice hearing God in the middle of our busy lives.
You are all such a blessing to me. I thank God for you!
Nathan, this is beautiful. I'm sitting here at my computer and the only sound I hear is our birds, singing their own praises to the Creator! I need to learn to listen deeper and to hear that still, small voice.
Thanks for the reminder.

Dearest Nathan; That was a beautiful post. It really blessed me. Maybe because I like to pull my truck into the woods and just sit on the tailgate and play my guitar and sing to our precious saviour alone. May God bless you hun. Love, Samantha.
