What sways your vote?

In thinking about the election, and trying to decide who to vote for, I've gotten lots of input from my friends.  But one thing I haven't been able to determine is why people support the candidates of their choice.

What attracts you to the candidate you have chosen?  Try to be specific, but remember - this is not a debate!  I'm just asking for your thoughts!!

Between Hillary and Obama, I would go with Hillary. Honestly, I really don't know other than Hillary has more experience as a senator over Obama. Plus she's got a husband ex-president who's experience she can use too. I had never heard of Obama before until he jumped in the race. I didn't know who he was a year ago and I don't know what his accomplishments are. Experience sways me to Hillary and the fact that she has an epresident husband.

On on the Republican side, well its just McCain.

Is that where you write in a candidate instead of voting on the main ones?  Which puzzles me really.  When has a write in candidate ever win?  We're going to get McCain, Hillary or Obama.  Whether you like them or not, one of those 3 will be the president.  A write in candidate seems to be a waste of time and vote.  Because they won't win.  But its your right to do so.

Isn't it logical to instead pick of the three that you least likey makes you sick and go with?  Because we're gonna get one of those three.

Just saying.....blankstare.gif

We might, but I would rather be honest in my vote than to compromise my standards for the popularity. I realize my vote will only matter to me, but in the end, it matters to me.

I will be voting Hillary. Two reasons; 1) I think it is more exciting to see a woman president than a african american president, I think it would truly mark a change in times, 2) Hillary will be bringing her husband's cabinet and I think they did a pretty good job.

I seriously think that we need a Democratic president, but all three of the possibles - I have one problem with all of them, they are for the bill 503/311 and I am against (horse slaughter bill, it is complex to explain!!! But better than letting horses die a long painful death even though we all dont like the idea of human eating horses). I am more of leaning towards Hillary, Caffine has some great reasons that I also have been thinking all along. I do not feel comfortable with Obama because he seems to be easily influenced. And Bush really ticked off the african american political organization (I forgot what it is called, Phil would you know?). I really prefer equalization on all races, oriention and so on and I do not think Obama will definitely bring that to the table.

PLUS when Mr. Clinton was the president the economy was stable.. all I remember was when both Bushes were in the House alot of people struggled.

At the end all of them are not really the best choices, I am really feeling we need someone that can take over the white house and get things straightened out over there... the war is hurting us, but people need to realize that the terrorists is the issue, not the iraq natives. I really feel they are trying to make peace, but they have so much unrest which is understandable because they have several years worth.

But since that "someone" is not campaigning - I would have to lean towards Hillary at the end.

I wouldnt be surprised if any of them would legalize same gender marriage though, it probably wont happen for several years. But again I would accept signing over the rights to my partner to be if something happens to me.

Anyway sorry this is long! :)

Let's talk about health care, and the various ways the candidates want to address it.
