Hi Everyone. Just a note to please be in prayer for me like never before. I go in for surgery on Friday the 19th and I don't mind telling you I am on the scared side. The doctor says I'll be in for a 7 days. At 80 I don't snap back very fast you know. Teddy or Lisa will take me tomorrow to the hospital to register and all that and I'll get a time then as to when on Friday I'll go in for the surgery... Okay, just thought I'd update you and please pray...

Mammaws made it through the surgery okay, and with no colostomy bag! That is great news!! The surgeon said that her colon was in very bad shape, and had attached itself to things it wasn't supposed to be attached to. The removed about a foot. She was in a lot of pain after surgery, but they now have her doped up enough to sleep. She'll be in ICU for a couple of days. Thanks for your prayers. Please continue to pray for a speedy recovery!

Mammaws is definitely improving. She was awake again this afternoon when we were there and she seems fairly alert. She has trouble hearing so we have to talk pretty loud, but she was able to carry on a normal conversation, for the most part! She may be moved to a regular room tomorrow.
Thanks for all of your prayers. Keep 'em coming!

Mammaws was finally moved to a regular room yesterday (from ICU) and they removed the tube that was down in her stomach keeping it empty. She still doesn't feel well at all and they haven't given her anything to eat or drink. The doctor was there while we were visiting yesterday and he ordered a unit of blood. Please pray that she will get her strength back. I know once she gets over this surgery, she is going to feel better than she has in ages!!

I realized that I haven't updated you all on Mammaws lately. On Tuesday (today is Friday) she was moved to a nursing home. She wasn't sick enough (according to Medicare) to remain in the hospital, but she wasn't strong enough to go home, so she will spend a couple of weeks (hopefully less) at a nursing home. Tonight was my first time in several days to see her, and it was such a relief to see the old Mammaws coming back. She was laughing and making jokes. She is not supposed to get up out of the bed without the physical therapist, so she's pretty much stuck in bed. But everyday she feels better. She is eating better, is free of all IVs & other related meds, and her cheeks were even rosy! Hopefully, being in the nursing home (sharing a room with a lady who has total control of the AC & TV, and who never consults Mammaws on either) will be good incentive for her to get well very soon!
Thanks for all the prayers. Please keep them coming!!

Hallelujah! Mammaws is home!! She is still in some pretty good pain, but after 4 weeks in either the hospital or nursing home, she is finally back in her own bed. She even had a good dinner of toated rye bread & peanut butter, 2 Chips Ahoy cookies, and some orange soda. So glad she went for nutrition!
Thanks for all of your prayers. Please keep 'em coming!!
