Yep, it is tonight and it is the first time in the Scene's history in DC that anyone has done anything like this, thus, the buzz on this one was HUGE! So pray that we do indeed get a decent turnout, great weather, few bugs, NO PROBLEMS, and that we at Those Who Mourn are absolutely 100% Christ-centered in all that we do!
Well, it was a mixed bag. I once again got there very late (30 minutes late to my own event), this time due to getting lost (in my own native area!), but my "backup" Markus worked out perfectly getting everybody organized before I got there..
We had a very good turnout, 22 people total, and we took over the course as we were the last ones there. I was a bit discouraged when there were a few people that said they were coming and they didn't (one was still moving, another had "goth drama", another never said why), but was very surprised when a few people that I thought weren't coming did show up..
Later that night we at Those Who Mourn had our first goth-related attack. At this club we went to later that night, one of the staffers lashed out at us for "interfering with the club with your events".
This is why: Our event ended at 10pm. The club starts at 10pm. Takes about 30 mins to get from the mini-golf event to the club. Giving people absolutely no time to get there. Why you may ask? Because unlike most people, goths (guys and girls) apparently can take anywhere between 2 to 3 HOURS to
1) decompress from prior event
2) get alcohol to help decompress from prior event
3) change clothes
4) MAKEUP
I am dead serious! Lisa (and girls): is this true for ALL WOMEN? I never knew nor understood this because my coming from a different musical culture it takes me, oh, 10 minutes.
So of course we had some silly drama at the club. That and a group of vampires were "harassing" this Christian Goth girl that we were introduced to. It was weird.
Phil, I don't think that's true of all women. For me, I wear only the most basic of make-up, so that's not an issue. And unless you guys were sweating a lot at the mini golf game, there wouldn't necessarily be a need to change. But even changing shouldn't take that long!
The thing that struck me was that your event at the club was beginning at my bedtime!!! Man, I'm old.
Do you have pictures of this event?

Those are good pictures. And I have to say that a couple of those folks don't look too Goth to me!What were you looking at in that first picture of the group?

Lol@Phil. I'm glad you had a decent time! It sounded fun! If I lived there, I wish I could have gone...
However, there's half of the United States keeping me at bay.
Well, keep us posted with anything else! It sounds as if you've been busy. :)
Continue to have fun! *big hugs* Darrel
