esword

yo yo yoooo anyone ever checked out www.e-sword.net? i just found it googling around for a greek translation program. kickass rock my socks off coolness. translates every single freakin word into greek, then a definition. so you can actually 'read' the bible in its original wording. and i'm starting to see that NIV and new living loads so much more 'meaning' than what the original words seem to have said. i'm so so so so psyched. i haven't been this psyched since my first kiss. i'm so so psyched cause i am totally obsessed now...going thru the clobber passages...oh God i'm so psyched. and scared of what i might find. but God help me. so psyched. did i mention i'm psyched?

and it's FREE to download (tho they'd appreciate a donation)!!!

allow me to be a little emotional here in my praise. i've been really down of late doing the christian/gay thing. then tonight i found esword.

AND. my precious trauma cat from the humane society, petrified of EVERYTHING bigger than a pom pom off a winter cap (no exaggeration). nikki. she found the courage to pounce and 'kill' her toy mice. she jumped and pounced and rolled.

you don't understand how surprised i was. she use to hide all day under my bed.

a wonderful wonderful thought struck me as i watched her.

i'm so proud of nikki for getting past whatever hurts she went through. it was a long slow process. but she did. i was soo soo happy for her. for starting to enjoy being a cat. for enjoying being able to pounce on things, and climb things, and cuddle with strangers.

then i just started tearing up. it was like God saying, "hey Peggy. I love you too. I want to see you happy. I want you to finally come out of your pain, of your fears, and love yourself. your very gay, very real self. I love you kid."

i can't hug God, so i hugged my cat instead. i kissed her too. she knows i love her.

That's great! I have the same program on my computer. It is what I have used to help me with my research about the "clobber" verses. I have learned from my own research that these verses refer to the use and abuse of young male prostitutes within the pagan temples of Canaan, Greek and Roman cultures. They're NOT references to normal homosexuality. Just like in these days, the gays of those times had to go to these temples to "relieve" their sexual desires because of straight society's disapproval of REAL and loving homosexual relationships.

Also, try to remember that the people who wrote the bible were human and had prejudices themselves. Like in the 10th chapter of the book of Acts, where God had to correct Peter of his prejudices about Gentile believers. The Bible IS the word of God, but it was penned by men who were "moved" by the Holy Spirit, Who was slowly changing them to be more loving and accepting of others. If you read the epistles of Paul in the order that he wrote them chronologically, you will see how the Holy Spirit is "mellowing" him into a more considerate person from the hating murderer of Christians that he once was.

If you want a book that will help you reconcile your homosexuality with your faith, I recommend that you read "Stranger at the Gate" by Mel White. He is a gay Christian leader (www.soulforce.org) that wrote this autobiography about his life and struggles to accept his homosexuality as a conservative Christian. This book and website has resorces to help you understand why today's church misinterprets the "clobber" passages. He now uses the non-violent methods of Ghandi and Martin Luther King to help change the world and show it the loving justice and mercy of Christ.
