Okay, I HATE summer weather, so I don't like dressing for it. I like my colourful sweaters. But I don't need to go through yet another summer of cargo shorts and plain white T-shirts. (I can't wear logos at work). Does anyone have some super-cheap options for me? I like things that are colourful, eclectic, and slightly quirky. Also, I can't have anything fringe-like at work, so making cutoffs isn't quite an option, either.
If you cannot wear logos, could you wear shirts that have patterns?? As long as they are not too eccentric, and have nothing offensive?
Thrift stores are a wonderful, wonderful source for clothes!! Good thinking! I recently purchased a Calvin Klein charcoal-grey dress shirt. I price-matched it at Sears--$58!!!! I got it for $4. :P
Anyway, I was thinking colored t-shirts, to start off with. I know you cannot have cut-offs--what about carpenter jeans? They are loose fit...there are always khakis. Either shorts, or pants.
I know Old Navy has quite a few end of season sales--and a LOT of places in the malls have them, too! Hot Topic is notorius for things like that. I don't know what your personal style is--but, if you find yourself in a mall...go inside all the places you normally wouldn't. Once in a while, they do have clearance, must-sell items.
I usually wear a sleeve-less t-shirt, and a short-sleeve button down on top. With some loose/baggy jeans...and call it good.
I'm not into fashion. I hardly wear anything that matches, and I am almost always in a t-shirt, and jeans. It's comfortable.
I hope something in here helps you out.
*christian hugs* Darrel

Understand my budget. I have almost no summer clothing, but I can probably dedicate about $10 to a summer wardrobe at present. I'm not sure what that leaves me with.
Why not take an old pair of jeans or pants, cut off the legs, and you can have a pair of shorts? Or find and old long-sleeved shirt, cut off the sleeves and make yourself a vest?
I'd have to stitch everything up, which would mean buying sewing supplies.
A nudist colony would be immeasurably more tolerable in this heat.
I guess what I'm asking is, what one or two articles of clothing can I get the most mileage out of? I've been wearing the same shorts for almost a week. Oh, and I'm a 38" waist. That makes thrift stores and such more difficult.
Do any thrift stores in your area have half-off sales?
I'd try to come up with two short sleeve button down shirts you think would look good on you, and a pair of jeans/khakis/carpenter/dress pants. Whatever you find.
*hugs* Good luck! I've been wearing some of the same shirts since 10 years ago!
God bless! Darrel

Well, I've been a bit dramatic. I'll have a little money to work with in a couple of weeks. My frustration is that I sit surrounded by laundry at the moment. Much of this is for winter (we hit record highs today), super-plain like white Ts, or pants six inches too big around (I lost nearly 50 lbs in a relatively short period, but couldn't buy the clothes to keep up).
I'll come up with something. I'm one who it just doesn't occur to that I need to go out and buy clothes until it's too late.
Clint, maybe since you like colorful sweaters you could get some Hawaiin print shirts? And for some reason I am picturing you in striped light blue seersucker pants.
