My favorite video games that came from the "fantasy" types were the Zelda series. I think that the very best one was the very first Legend of Zelda. It was super cool! It was even harder to beat than A Link to the Past. There was a LOT of stuff that you had to remember while playing that one! I would play that game until a big pus-filled blister would form on my left thumb!
You know that you've got a really good game when it gives you one of those!
I still can't beat the second quest on Zelda!! It's so hard!
Did you ever play the Super Nintendo Zelda game? It was fun, but not as great as the original. I still remember the commercials for the initial release of the original NES zelda. It had nothing to do with what the game was about!

Zelda Rules!!! I didn't care to much for "windwaker" as well as the earlier manifestations

"Zelda:Windwaker" for the gamecube, the latest installment in the Zelda saga. I hear there is a new Zelda coming out soon.

I'm a Super Nintendo freak. Some of the best RPG's (Role Playing Games) came out on that system.
Some of which:
Secret of Evermore Paladins Quest Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest Final Fantasy 2, 3, and 4?? Or is it 6? Secret of Mana is my favorite video game of all time Earthbound Illusion of Gaia Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Those were the days...

Me and my dad loved to play TETRIS together. We would play that game until 3:00 AM! I would go to bed on some nights and would wake up later to the sounds of that corny Russian music coming from the living room. He was practically HOOKED on that game! And when he would finally give it a rest, he said that he would look at the pattern of squares on the kitchen floor and imagine that he would be still playing the game.
He later got hooked on DR. MARIO. This is another game that we played for hours. Whenever I would beat him, he claimed that I had cheated.
We had great times together. I still miss him whenever I play.
Other faves for the NES:
*StarTropics (this game came with a letter that you had to get wet to get a secret code to continue the game)
*Super Mario Bros. 3 (before I got the game, I bought and memorized the player's guide so I could "cheat" without having to stop the game to read the book)
*Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (this game put a welt on my thumb the size of Cleveland)

On the American Super Nintendo, "Final Fantasy 2" was really the Japanese FF4 "FF3" was the Japanese FF6
When Playstation came out with Final Fantasy 7 and I had only seen up to "3" on Super Nintendo I was like WTF?!?!?
Secret of Mana is my favorite video game of all time
I think it's one of my top favorites of all time too. Have you ever played Secret of Mana 2??? It never was sold in the US but you can download it if you have a SNES emulator on your computer. It's INCREDIBLE. Think Secret of Mana, but a little more realistic-looking; not as cartooney. There are six playable characters, and you can choose any three to be the main characters of the game. The storyline/playable levels/big bosses change depending on which characters you play with. SOM2 is the only game I ever started over immediately after having beaten it.
I'm such a nerd!!!

Thank you for the heads up on my FF mistakes. I knew I was wrong...just wasn't sure where. :) It's been a while since I've played those; however, all the FF games have a place deep in my heart--except for 8, which has a place deep in my trash can. lol.
Silent Hill (These are all time creepy...I actually screamed a couple of times when playing it in a dark room...) Resident Evil (Always a good source of fun!!) HALO (It took forever to play it the 1st time....after that, it was too easy...it is still fun, though!)
Disgaea Hour of Darkness (Play this game if you're into RPG's. It is sooooo expansive...and you could literally play for years, and still not beat it. The maximum level you could acheive with a character is 9999. Yes...you heard me right...9999)
Shadow Hearts (It is very confusing; however, the storyline was so original, and the artwork was amazing...I couldn't resist finishing it...even though I never did...it got too hard for me.)
OHHHHHHH I forgot Mario Bros, and Mega Man!!

I know that's right! Kinda interesting story, though.

Has anyone here ever played "Sweet Home?" It was an original Nintendo game that came out only in Japan (but you can easily download an english version of it nowadays). Even though it's Nintendo and the graphics aren't the greatest, it is SCARY! By the time you're done playing it, you've seen some really disturbing (and bloody) things.
It's also a really fun role playing/puzzle game. I highly recommend it.
--oh, btw all the characters have their own special ability, and one person's special ability is carrying around a VACUUM CLEANER. It's worth it just for that. but it is scary, esp late at night.

I LOVED it whenever I blew up that kid's hamster in the microwave!
And let's not forget the GAMEBOY! When I first got mine, I played "Metroid" on that thing until the batteries went down on it! My sister LOVED "Super Mario Land"! My all time fave was "The Legend of Zelda" on it.

I had ALL of those; they were great!! I think I even still have them!
I heard there was a gameboy RPG where at the end of it, you could marry any of the other characters from the game- even same-sex marriage was allowed. And all the characters had appliance names. I can't remember the name of it; I never owned it.

You know, I don't care how gay you guys are, you are still just a bunch of MEN!! All of these games are so typically boy games!!! I like to do jigsaw puzzles on the computer. Or play Mad Caps (that's the one I always go back to), or Q-Beez, or any kind of word game. Occasionally I'll play Collapse, but when it gets too fast, I lose interest. Oh, and Dynomite. That's about as violent as I get.

Are there any "Kingdom Hearts" fans out there?? That has to be one of the most imaginative games available. I'm playing the 2nd, even though I've never finished the 1st. For some reason, I'm finding the second easier...of course it is only the very beginning--but, I'm captivated by the graphics. The soundtrack is incredible, too. :)

ding ding ding! Here's one. I played Kingdom Hearts start to end at least once. It's really fun, but the voice acting is crappy a lot of the time. It is really, really fun, though.
Anyway, I'm probably going to wait for it to get cheaper before buying the second one, but I want it now!!! Good to know it's fun,

Dear MamaLisa,
You poor girl...
Can't you see that us men, straight or gay or bi or whatever, we have a gene within us that REQUIRES us to...
BLOW STUFF UP!!!
It is something within the "Y" chromosome does this:
Does anybody like golfing games? Ever since Nintendo, I've played a bunch of 'em. I think they're good fun. *Christian Hugs* Darrel
ps: About Secret of Mana--I know the maximum level of weapon level is 8; however, why do some of the weapons have 9 spheres? When I reached all 3 characters to about level 92, I had a 9th sphere for the Spear, Sword, and one other. Does every weapon have a hidden orb?

I like mini-golf games, but real golf games are either so hard to control I lose interest, or they're so easy I don't enjoy them either.

Oooooooo! I didn't know that... I better look into it. Right now as I'm re-playing it I'm only very early in the game. So I'll have to see. I'm not sure but I think the magic can be upgraded beyond level 8, too.
Secret of Mana 2 has all kinds of secret things in it. All six characters have two "transformations" they go through in the course of the game that change their appearance in different ways and make them more powerful (in different ways- you get to choose what they turn into). There are also special secret weapons and armor for each character. There's also a "black rabite" secret boss. I've never seen it. Anyway it's definitely worth downloading.

I loved playing Tiger Woods' golf game! It drove me CRAZY trying to get the ball out of the sand trap. I might get the latest version of it, but I can't decide between getting it, Civilization III or Comand & Conquer: Generals.
Have any of you guys played these? I love strategy games!
I used to play those games for hours and hours- my parents would get soooo angry. But since college all I've done are RPGs. Strange, since I still remember liking those strategy games and would probably still really enjoy them.

I'm going to buy one, but not for a long time. I just bought my PS2 a couple years ago! So I'm set for a while. Especially since they are (for now) still making PS2 games.
