In Matthew 27, it says (depending on what version you have, it may read differently) Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.  And it goes on to say that the earth did quake. 

 

My question is was this a localized darkness and quake?  Or does it mean the whole world quakes and was covered in darkness?
