She was FALSELY arrested for "4th degree assault" of her boyfriend, my best friend Chris, and she wound up having to spend 12 hours in jail on Christmas! The one that accused her and called the cops on her is his sister, who's had it in for Kathy for YEARS and has tried EVERYTHING to break them up. This is just another "stunt" of hers and now, Kathy is having to go to trial for something that she didn't do. The "crime" was actually nothing more than she slapping Chris on his arm during an argument over a Christmas gift that SHE bought for HIM.
The poor thing is SCARED to death. She thinks that she's going to go back to jail, where she was picked on. Chris is already having to stay with me for a MONTH because he is forbidden to live under the same roof together until the trial is over. They are both VERY UPSET and their folks aren't making it any easier for them, accusing the each other of false assumptions.
Please...we need all of the prayers that you can pray for us!
That's rough, Jeffrey. Wouldn't Chris have to be the one accusing her? Can't he just say it didn't happen? Whatever, I'll be praying for your friends. You sound like you are being a good friend to them both.

He's going to tell the police this week what really happened and have the charges dropped. HOPEFULLY, this will be the end of this whole mess since he has now disowned his dysfunctional, controlling family.
Kathy is going to stay with her parents until the trial, and then, when the charges are dropped, she will go back to living with Chris, who is now living alone in their apartment. Please, keep praying for all of us. My mom got so nervous from all of this stress that she is going to spend some time at my sister's, taking care of Rebecca (she's on winter break). I HATE all of this! But my hands are tied because my landlord says that Chris can't stay here with us...and he is VERY STRICT on his rules. In fact, he was about to serve an eviction notice on us just because we were about to be late on one of our month's rent!
This Tuesday morning is the trial. Both Chris and Kathy are understandably anxious and wishing that the whole thing was already over. Tomorrow is Chris' birthday and he is coming to church with mom and me. Pray that he makes a decision to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Kathy has been diagnosed as being bi-polar. Her doctor gave her the WRONG medication and that's mostly why she acted out the night that she was arrested. Without a doubt, the judge will consider all this when the case comes before him, and will be more lenient.
It turns out that today was just the arraignment hearing. This ice storm caused Kathy's lawyer from being able to show up. The REAL trial will be Feb. 27th, at 1:30 PM. I am waiting to hear back from Chris to see if he and Kathy will be able to have contact with each other again, after asking for permission to see each other again from the powers that be. They miss each other really, REALLY badly.
The trial was yesterday, and the judge said that if Kathy stays out of trouble for the next 6 months, then EVERYTHING will be dropped and there won't even be a record of her! She is back home with Chris and they are doing just fine.
