Trans thread

Have you thought about maybe starting a transgender/transsexual thread or area where anyone here or lurking could talk about trans issues?

I think that the reason why it hasn't had much talk here at TSA is because there aren't too many trans-gendered people in the gay community, much less the church. So many people that are often come from backgrounds where Christians have hurt them and are a little suspicious of even gay ones.

Hopefully, as time goes on, more will come here and talk. pray.gif

Jeffry,
I do agree and many of the GLBT community have been hurt and are skeptical. I don't really blame them.
I have noticed from being on transgender sites that amny times the gay community knows as little about the transgenders as the straight and Christians do.
We do share many things in common such as feeling different at a young age, bullying, bashing and having to stay in the closet.
In other areas we differ like night and day.
I guess I will never know what a gay individual feels like totally no more than a gay person will ever know what it feels like to be trans.
I don't know what it feels like to be a man and have desires and feelings for men no more than I know what it's like to be a teenager and have feelings for a girl as a boy should. Back then I felt like a girl that liked girls. It's what is referred to as a trans-lesbian.
There are such a wide variety of trans folk that while many of us share some problems and experiences none of us really fall into a mold of what a transsexual is or should be.
Trans-men, trans-women, gender-queer, androgyne and such all have differences in their lifestyles that it can be interesting to compare who lived what growing up and how each feels about any given subject.
For example some may want to transition to their target gender while others may not. Some want to but medical problems stop them. Some feel one gender at one time and another at another time.
It can be nice to see you're not alone in a given area.
Still in all, I know most are skeptical.
I am as well.
A couple of years ago I was outed at work and an office person took a shot at me after work. The bullet hit my car and the coward ran off.
I still live in a rather rural area where being out can get you killed. We had a lesbian run out of town and a couple of T-girls as well.
As a healed ex-transgender I still find transgenders the most interesting to talk to. Not in a filthy sense like some sites pervert things, but in a clean sense.
Over the years I have become repulsed by mainstream Christianity and the arogance of many straight Christians. I guess that's why I would rather talk to the GLBT community. I just have nothing in common with straight people. The only straight people I do have for friends are in my church.
Oh, well, I'm rambling.
I do wish they had a transgender section that might draw trans people.
Thank you for the answer though.
Take care and may God bless,
Tiff

Jeffry,

One thing I would like to add is that the majority of the transgender sites I have been on are not Christian. When someone posts on scripture or anything Christian it's like casting a lamb out among wolves.
They may have a "spirituality" or "Christian" section but it is typically filled with those who identify as nonchristian. They pretty much slam anything posted.
It was my hope that a blog and a trans section might be included here that those who identify as Christian and transgender could find a safe haven where they could discuss both trans issues and Christianity safely.
For example, I had a blog on another site and one of the moderators told me that even though many posted no response they were finding comfort in sermons that told who Jesus was and what he fulfilled without having the sermons come back to the stuff the mainstream preach and teach. She told me that she saw them log on and read it for long periods of time. I don't know who they were but I hope they were blessed.
Sadly, someone offended me and I got mad and deleted my membership and the blog.
I guess another example is some of the issues that trans people discuss that gays and straights don't. Things that many probably couldn't relate to. Stuff like HRT and SRS, wearing your sister's clothing and stuff like that.
Take care and may God bless,
Tiff
