I've been trying to trap four of the seven zebra finch we have left to thin the herd a little more, but I think they are on to me!! I'm kind of leaning toward letting them all go!!

So, evidently zebra finch are quite intelligent. They wouldn't fall for the trick of going in the cage where the food is & letting me close the door to trap them. Then Teddy rigged up a string contraption so we could stand outside the atrium and pull the cage shut from the doorway. Not only will the birds not go in that cage, they evidently untied the string from the cage!!!! The string was laying on the ground when we got up. Now I'm just frightened.

Don't worry...the little birdie was just trying to use the string to make ANOTHER nest. They probably saw Teddy's new giant grill, thought that THEY were going to be on the next "platter", and saw the trap for it.
We managed to trap & release 10 of the 11 finches. The only one left is the original daddy, named Ozzie. (As in, ...and Harriett) He seems so lonely and sad. He's breaking my heart!! I'll have to trap him, too!!
As I was leaving today, I noticed we had a visitor...
